Hi, I’m Katie, the founder of Skudaboo. Based in Bristol, Skudaboo is a small business, proud to bring you a collection of modern, eclectic and affordable premium giclée art prints, posters, frames and home accessories.

Whether you're a fan of Scandiminimalismmid-century modern or an eclectic vibes, or if you're looking for art prints for your living roombedroom, or office, our collection is carefully curated to make it easy and enjoyable to find the perfect one.

Our collection is also organised in a variety of themes from abstracts to florals, and is available in a choice of sizes. You can opt to add a frame to your art print, so it comes delivered ready to display and you can effortlessly transform your walls.

The Start of Skudaboo: Falling in Love with Art

Throughout my 20s and 30s, I lived in various house shares. In September 2019, before I realised how much time I would be about to spend at home, I moved into another spare room in a shared flat. With it being unfurnished, it allowed me to truly make the space my own.

This was my chance to add personal touches not only to my room but to the entire flat. Tasked with finding some lovely wall prints, I realised I had no idea where to start. I began researching styles, artists, frames, and where to buy them. Being a boho girl back then, I also turned to Pinterest for some boho inspiration.

This started my love of finding beautiful art prints and unique homeware, which eventually led to the start of my business!

Skudaboo's Beginnings

When I moved out of my spare room and started renting my own flat, my passion for art and décor continued to grow. I couldn't stop researching décor styles, artists, and makers.

Even though I was living on my own, I didn't have enough space in my flat or on my walls for all my ideas! Having always dreamed of starting my own small business, I was inspired to create Skudaboo, my very own online art gallery.

Creating a Home that Reflects You

As I've grown Skudaboo, I've experienced how the cost of living has risen over the years and made it harder to buy your own place, especially as a single woman in her 30s. I understand not everyone is in an aspirational living situation.

However, whether you're buying, renting, living in a flat, house, or a spare room in a shared house, you deserve a space that feels like home to relax and unwind and that reflects you.

I realised that you don't have to spend a lot of money to achieve this. It can be done with small touches, like a favourite mug for cosy mornings, art prints that make you smile, or scented candles for to help with unwinding after work.

The Mission Behind Skudaboo

Starting a small business taught me the challenges of getting noticed and the major learnings involved. Simply putting lovely things on a website wasn't enough.

This experience inspired my mission: to help others create spaces that feel like home and uniquely theirs, while also providing a platform to showcase amazing artists. This way, artists can focus on creating beautiful art, and I handle the rest of the business stuff.

My Small Business Values

After spending years in big retail and seeing some not-so-great stuff, I'm all about sticking to my small business values as Skudaboo grows:

  • High-quality products and service
  • Fair pay and no hidden fees for artists or any other small business I work with
  • Promoting environmental sustainability
By the way, if you didn't know, small businesses are awesome for the economy!

    The Future of Skudaboo

Skudaboo is still in its infancy, but now that I've left my full-time job, I can spend more time growing the brand and platform. I can't wait to find more artists and makers to add to the shop and bring you more lovely things.

    Supporting Fellow Creatives

I'm so passionate about small businesses and supporting fellow creatives. That's why I've launched another business, The Small Business Assistant, where I use my retail experience and skills to help other small businesses thrive and succeed. Follow me here if you're a fellow small business in need of extra support!

Thank you for being part of this journey with me. I can't wait to see where it takes us!
